FOUR-STRAND
       SINNET

        First type

Four cords can be used to
        produce an enormous number
of plats, all different from each
       other. The type illustrated on
       the right, for example,
        produces a beautiful flat
braid, though as you will see
        further on, square or round
       cords can also be produced
        with the same number of
       strands.

        Method
       The basic principle is to
weave the strand on the right
        throughout, as shown in
        figures 1, 2, 3, and 4 which
        illustrate a complete cycle of
the four strands. Figures 5 2
and 6 show the plat before
        and after it is tightened.
