It is pronounced “EYE-yearn.”
However, when we say the word “irony,”
either is correct. It can be said
“EYE-ron-y” or “EYE-yearn-y.”
The adjective “ironic” is pronounced “eye-RON-ic.”
“He needs to iron his wrinkled shirt.”
“There was irony in her response. She said, ‘Wonderful,’
when I said, ‘I missed the bus again.’”
“Isn’t that ironic?”
