We don’t pronounce the “r” in “iron.”

                                It is pronounced “EYE-yearn.”

However, when we say the word “irony,”
either is correct. It can be said
                                “EYE-ron-y” or “EYE-yearn-y.”

The adjective “ironic” is pronounced “eye-RON-ic.”

“He needs to iron his wrinkled shirt.”

“There was irony in her response. She said, ‘Wonderful,’
when I said, ‘I missed the bus again.’”

                                         “Isn’t that ironic?”
