When Ellicia was 9, she got a Christmas present of a 12-week session of group riding lessons at Whitemud Equine Center and she’s never looked back! She is proud of all the horses she’s bred and developed, and seeing them have success in what- ever job they get with new owners, gives her great satisfaction. As Ellicia continues to develop young horses in the sport, she would be thrilled to be lucky enough to keep one long enough to get back in the GP ring.
NOVA VF by homebred stallion, MESSENGER VF out of VIOLET VF was backed and trained by Connor Gallagher who trains all Ellicia’s young horses. NOVA has been under saddle since Nov. 2021 and has been to one show at Ponoka, competing in the 4 year-old classes. Ellicia took over riding her in March 2022.
Ellicia has great affection for NOVA and both of her parents. She rode the dam (VIOLET VF) who sadly incurred an injury as a young horse. She also rode NOVA’s dam’s dam (COSTA MARIT) competing to the 1.40m level. She still owns the sire - MESSENGER VF - who recently jumped to 1.60 in Madrid as an 8 year old. Ellicia also competed MESSENGER’s dam (NEC PLUS ULTRA) up to 1.50m. Definitely a family affair! Ellicia would appreciate assistance from John and Beezie in getting NOVA’s steering better between her hand and leg.
