San Francisco Nerede?
San Francisco, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nin Kaliforni- ya eyaletinin kuzeyinde San Francisco Körfezi Bölgesi’nde en önemli kültürel ve finansal merkez. Şehir, San Francisco Yarımadası’nın kuzeyine kurulmuş, şehrin batısında Büyük Okyanus, kuzey ve doğusunda ise San Francisco Körfezi bu- lunuyor. Şehrin yüzölçümü 600.6 km2 büyüklüğünde, yüzde 79.79’u sularla kaplı. San Fancısco Yarımadası’nın kuzeyinde bulunan 121.4 km2’si ise, kara alanı olma özelliğine sahip.
San Francisco Tarihi
1776 yılında İspanyollar, bugün Golden Gate Köprüsü’nün bulunduğu yere bir kale ve bir Hıristiyan misyoner binası yapmışlardı.
1848’de başlayan Kaliforniya Altına Hücum döneminde ise, şehir çok hızlı bir şekilde büyüdü ve kısa sürede batı kı- yısının en büyük şehri konumuna ulaştı. San Francisco, 1906 yılında meydana gelen yıkıcı deprem ve yangınlarla adeta yok oldu, fakat kısa sürede tekrar inşa edildi. II. Dünya Sava- şı’ndan sonra, görevdeki askerlerin dönüşü, büyük göç dal- gası, bölgedeki diğer faktörlerle şehir hızla büyüyor.

Where is San Francisco?
San Francisco is the most important cultural and nancial center in the Gulf Region of San Francisco in north of the state of California in the United States. The city is located in the north of the San Francisco Peninsula, with the Great Ocean in the west and the Gulf of San Francisco in the north and east. The surface area of the city is 600.6 km2 and 79.79% of it cov- ered with water. 121.4 km2 of it in the north of San Francisco Peninsula is a land area.
History of San Francisco
In 1776 the Spanish built a castle and a Christian missionary building on place where the Golden Gate Bridge is located today.
In the California Gold Rush period, which began in 1848, the city grew very quickly and reached the position of the largest city of the west coast in a short time. San Francisco was almost destroyed by destructive earthquakes and res in 1906, but rebuilt in a short time. The city is growing rapidly with the return of troops on duty after World War II, the great wave of migration, and other factors in the region.
