Binlerce Yıl Önce Bu İlginç Şehir...
San Francisco şehrine ait en eski yerleşim ile ilgili arkeolo- jik kanıtlar, ilk yerleşimin M.Ö. 3000 yılında yapıldığını gös- teriyor. Bölgenin yerlileri Kuzey Kaliforniya’yı 6. yüzyıl civa- rı ele geçiriyor. Bu kabilelerin bulunduğu bölgelere de 16. yüzyılın başından itibaren İspanya tarafından göz dikiliyor. Bu sebeple, bölge halkı 1769’a kadar Avrupalılarla ilişkilerde bulunuyor. 1769’dan itibaren Gaspar de Portola’nın lider- liğini üstlendiği bir grup Yukarı Kaliforniya’yı sömürgeleş- tirmek için bir takım keşi erde bulunurken, San Francisco Körfez Bölgesi’nin varlığını öğreniyorlar. Bu olaydan sonra, bir grup bölgede kendilerine yaşam alanlarını kurmak ama- cıyla keşfilerde bulunuyorlar. İspanyollar uzun yıllar boyun- ca bu bölgede altın madenleri sebebiyle yaşam sürüyor.
Bölge, İspanyollardan sonra 1821’de İspanya’dan bağım- sızlığını kazanarak Meksika’nın bir parçası haline geliyor. 1835 yılında ise, İngilizler geliyor ve altından faydalanmak istiyor. 1846 yılında ise, San Francisco ABD’ye bağlanıyor. Kaliforniya, Altına Hücum döneminde bir sel gibi altın ara- yıcılarını bölgeye çekiyor. 1848’de bin civarı olan nüfus, 1849’da 25.000’e ulaşıyor. Zenginlik vaadi o kadar büyüyor ki San Francisco limanına ulaşan gemi tayfaları, limana gelir gelmez gemilerini yüzüstü bırakarak hızla limandan uzakla- şıyor ve altın aramaya koyuluyordu.
Bugün de şehirde hala zengin altın rezervleri bulunuyor.
Hippi Akımının Merkezi
1960’lı yıllarda hippi akımının başladığı yer oluyor San Francisco... Vietnam Savaşı’na karşı gelişen hippi akımı, bu şehirden diger eyaletlere ve ordan da tüm dünyaya yayılan bir akım oluyor.
This Interesting City Thousands of Years Ago...
The archaeological evidences on the oldest settlement of the city of San Francisco shows that the rst settlement took place in 3000 BC. The natives of the region conquered North- ern California in the 6th century. -The regions where these tribes are located were also had an eye by Spain from the beginning of the 16th century. For this reason, local commu- nity had been associated with Europeans until 1769. While a group, of which leadership Gaspar de Portola undertook from 1769, was making some discoveries to colonize Upper Cal- ifornia, they learned the presence of the Gulf Region of San Francisco. After this event, a group was making discoveries in order to establish living spaces in the region for themselves. The Spanish have been living in this region for many years be- cause of the gold mines.
The region gained its independence from Spain in 1821, after the Spanish, and became a part of Mexico. In 1835, the British came and wanted to bene t from gold. In 1846, San Francisco was attached to the United States. California was attracting gold diggers in full ood to the region during the Gold Rush period. The population, which was about one thousand in 1848, reached 25,000 in 1849. -The promise for the wealth was so great that the mariners arriving at the port of San Francisco were leaving their ships and quickly moving away from the port and were searching for gold, as soon as the ship arrived the port.
Today there are still rich gold reserves in the city.
Center of Hippie Movement
San Francisco is the place where the hippie movement be- gan in the 1960s... The hippie movement arising against the Vietnam War is a movement that spreads from this city to other states and from there to the whole world.
