San Francisco’da Haight - Ashbury caddeleri hippi akı- mının başladığı, geliştiği yer oluyor. Bu caddelerde tarihte konaklama çok ucuz olduğundan dolayı hippilerin nüfusu burada gittikçe artıyor. Bugün de hala hippiler burda yaşı- yor, burdaki mekanlarda takılıyorlar. Dükkanlar hep hippi malzemeleri ve kıyafetleri satıyor.
Sıra dışı tarzları sevenler için burası adeta bulunmaz bir fırsat. Haight - Ashbury’nin renkli mimarisi, sıra dışı ve nos- taljik dükkanları, kafeleri ve restoranları, insanları semte çeken bir mıknatıs görevi görüyor. Halkı bu kadar cezbet- mesinin bir sebebi de rahat tavrından kaynaklanıyor.
Çin Mahallesi
Dünyanın en büyük Çin Mahallesi San Francisco’da cıkı- yor karşımıza... Zaten, şehrin nüfusunun yüzde 60’lık kısmı Asyalılardan meydana geliyor.
Altına Hücum döneminde, demiryollarında çalışan Asya- lılar ve Çinliler, Çin Mahallesi’ni kuruyor. Yapılan demir yoları çalışmasında da şehrin ilk tramvayı 1873 yılında faaliyete geçiyor.
Çin Mahallesi tam anlamıyla Çinli! Mimarilerinden, dük- kanlarına, restoranlarına kadar her şeyiyle kendinizi Çin’de hissediyorsunuz.
Çinliler, Çin’e gitmeye gerek duymadan buradan bütün ihtiyaçlarını giderebiliyor. Hatta, İngilizce öğrenmeye ihti- yaç bile hissetmiyorlar.
Alamo Meydanı
Alamo Meydanı, San Francisco’nun en meşhur mey- danlarından. Viktorian tarzı, minik evleriyle ön planda olan şehrin sembollerinden olan bir meydan burası... İngilizlerin burda yaşadığı zamanda yapılan tarihi bölge olarak göste- rilen bu meydandaki evler kesinlikle görülmeye deger.
The Haight-Ashbury streets in San Francisco are the plac- es where the hippie movement began and developed. The population of hippies was increasing in these streets because the accommodation here was very cheap in the past. Today, the hippies still live here, they hang out in the places here. Shops always sell hippie materials and clothes.

The colorful architecture, extraordinary and nostalgic shops, cafes and restaurants of Haight-Ashbury serve as a magnet that attracts people to the district. The biggest Chinatown in the world appears in San Francis- co... 60 percent of the city’s population is already originating from Asian people.
The Asian people and Chinese who worked on the railways during the Gold Rush period erupted the Chinatown. The rst tram in the city became operational in 1873 through railway works.
The Chinatown is exactly Chinese! From architects, to shops, to restaurants you feel yourself in China.
The Chinese are able to meet all their needs from here without having to go to China. In fact, they do not even need to learn English.
Alamo Square
Alamo Square is one of the most famous squares in San Francisco. Here is a square that is one of the symbols of the city being at the forefront with its Victorian style and small houses... The houses on this square indicated as the histor- ical area established when the British lived here are de nitely worth-seeing.
