Sicilya demek, nefis lezzetler demek... Adamların hayatı yemek üzerine kurulu. Yine, yolumuz harika bir pazara düşüyor; ama bu pazar, bildiğimiz pazarlara hiç benzemiyor. Çünkü bu pazarda her şey yenmeye hazır. Özellikle, tezgahlar renk renk salatalarla ve zeytinyağ- lılar ile dolu. İnsanlar öğle aralarında, iş çıkışlarında, hiç pişirmeye gerek duymadan hemen satın alıp yiyor. Bu sebeple, bu pazar her zaman rağbet görüyor. Çiğ balık- lar, ekmekler, salamura balıklar ve olmazsa olmaz rizotto topları yani, arançilanalar... Daha sayamadığım bir sürü lezzet, bu pazarlarda yerini buluyor. Yöresel ve bilinme- yen lezzetler arayanlar, Katanya’nın derinliklerindeki so- kak lezzetlerini keşfe çıkmalı derim.
Palermo
Sicilya Adası‘nın kuzeybatısında yer alan Palermo, zengin kültürel mirası, tarihsel dokusu ve doğal güzellik- leri sayesinde yılın her dönemi turist çekmeyi başarıyor. 3000 yıllık köklü bir geçmişe sahip olan şehirde gastro- nomi tutkunları için birbirinden farklı yemek seçenekleri bulunduğu gibi gezilecek bir sürü köşe de var.
İsmini, Eski Yunanca’da “Büyük Liman” kelimesinden alan Palermo, ziyaretçilerine eğlenceli vakit geçirme im- kanı sağlıyor. Arap ve Roma mimarisini yansıtan yapıt- lar, estetik görünümlü heykeller ve volkanik kayalardan yapılmış tarihi evler, şehrin başlıca görülmesi gereken noktalarını oluşturuyor. Biz, önce dünyaca meşhur ka- tedralden başlıyoruz.
Palermo Katedrali
Palermo Katedrali (Cattedrale di Palermo), Palermo denildiği zaman akla gelen ilk sembol yapılardan. Nefis mimarisi ve detayları, insanı hemen etkisi altına alıyor. Şehrin en muhteşem yapıtları arasından öne çıkan Pa- lermo Katedrali, mermer ve ahşap işçiliğinin en güzel örneklerinden biri. 1185 yılında Mill Walter tarafından tasarlanan yapıt, bugün hala kullanılıyor. Araplar zama- nında bu ihtişamlı yapı, cami olarak kullanılmış. Üzerinde Kuran-ı Kerim’den ayetlerin de bulunduğu sütunlar da hala görülüyor. Arapların bölgeden çekilmesinden son- ra ise, yapı yeniden katedral haline getiriliyor. Eserin iç kısmında ise, Sicilya Krallığı’na ait mezarlıklar göze çar- pıyor.

Sicily means delicious tastes... The life of men is based on food. Again, we happen to pass a wonderful market; But this market is nothing like the markets we know. Be- cause in this market everything is ready to be eaten. In particular, the stalls are lled with colorful salads and ol- ive oil dishes. People buy and eat instantly in lunchtime and after work without having to cook at all. For this reason, these markets are always in demand. Raw sh- es, breads, salted shes and indispensable risotto balls, that is to say, the dishes... A lot of the avors I cannot count are found in these markets. I say to those who are looking for local and unknown tastes should explore the street tastes in the depths of Catania.
Palermo
Palermo, situated on the north-west of the Sicily Is- land, is able to attract tourists every year thanks to its rich cultural heritage, historical texture and natural beauties. In the city, which has a deep-rooted history of 3000 years, there are diverse food options for the gas- tronomy enthusiasts as well as there are many places to visit.
Palermo, which takes the name of the word “Great Harbor” in Ancient Greek, provides an opportunity for its visitors to have the time of their life. Works re ect- ing Arabic and Roman architecture, aesthetic-looking sculptures and historical houses made of volcanic rocks are the main points of the city to see. We are rstly starting from the world-famous cathedral.
Palermo Cathedral
Palermo Cathedral (Cattedraldi Palermo) is one of the rst symbolic structure that comes to mind when it is called Palermo. It’s wonderful architecture and details take hold of human immediately. Palermo Cathedral, one of the most magni cent works of the city, is one of the nest examples of marble and wood workmanship. The work designed by Mill Walter in 1185 is still in use to- day. In the time of the Arabs, this magni cent structure is being used as a mosque. The columns on which the verses from the Koran are still visible. After the Arabs withdraw from the region, the building is again trans- formed into a cathedral. On the inside of the work the cemeteries belonging to the Kingdom of Sicily draw at- tention.
