Aslında, hepimiz Sicilya Adası’nı ‘’mafya’’sı ile biliriz. Zaten, Palermo, mafyanın doğduğu topraklar... Hatta, dünyaca meşhur ‘’Baba’’ filmine de sahne olmuş Pa- lermo Şehri... Ama Sicilyalılar bu duruma kızgın. Çünkü ‘’Sicilya Mafyası’’ aslında tarih sahnesine ilk çıktığında kötü amaçla değil, iyi amaçla kurulmuş ve işleri yoluna koyan bir yer olmuş. Yaşlılara yardım eden, haksızlıklara karşı çıkan, babaları ölenlere babalık eden, yardım eden, yardımsever anlamına gelirmiş; ama daha sonra işler de- ğişmiş.
