SQUARE KNOT

               Purpose

Perhaps the best of all uses for this knot is to tie a neck-scarf beneath one’s chin.
The good-looking four-part crown neatly fills the open V-neck of a blouse or

shirt, while at the same time ensuring that the each free end hangs down at a chic

               angle.

               Tying

Each end in turn is used to create this knot (figures 1–3). The finished form is
distinctive, with a good-looking front side that is displayed and a nondescript

rear face to be concealed (figures 4–5).

               Knot lore

Those who refer to the reef knot as a square knot need another name for this one,

and rustler’s knot is as good as any.
