8. Sunday Ride Reports
Peter Swallow (Poida) Ride 6th February 2022
What a great turnout for today's ride with a great group of likeminded friends. Gov broke his tradition of
arriving at the last minute but gave him the opportunity of showing us all his new Triumph. Steve and
Sally also arrived sporting new shiny wheels in the form of a Nissan sports car
At best guess, 20 bikes set off up Old Willunga hill, but one almost didn't find the way to the top, as Lurch
had gear trouble.
Onward and upward we took the main road through Mt. Compass, then turned left towards Ashbourne
and Finniss to Strathalbyn.
At times the cross wind was quite strong and was hard to keep my bike upright.
I missed one turn on the way into Strathalbyn, but we got there in the end. On entering Strathalbyn I
was glad to see the petrol station to my right which confirmed where we were heading, a quick left turn
onto the main street and we were there, and my panic was over.
Following morning tea at Strathalbyn a few bade their farewell, before we continued our second leg of the
journey on to Mount Pleasant. Thanks to Warren and Sonia Jamieson for coming out to meet us in Strath.
Before we set off I had a quick refresher on google maps, so I could complete that section error free.
The wind again was a hassle at times, but we got to Mt Pleasant without any issues, passing through
Callington and Palmer. Lunch at the bakery or the pub finished off the ride.
It was great to see the BSA bike group out enjoying a ride also.
A special thanks to Trevor Staples as tail end Charlie as this was his last official ride as Ride Coordinator.
Thank you all for joining us on this ride. Here's to many more this year.
Keep the wheels turning.
