WEDNESDAY WANDERERS REPORTS

        Ross’s Ride Wednesday 9th November

A small group for a Wednesday assembled at Dome Banksia Grove of about 9 and I offered a couple of
alternatives, 1 a slightly different way to Bakers Hill it 2 a run ending at Artisan Cafe Mundaring and most
opted for the shorter ride to Mundaring so off down Pinjar with a big black cloud hovering nearby, past all
the market gardens and hatcheries to Gnangara Rd, out through the whoopsies and south on O’Brien’s,
Roland and then through Hidden Valley, Richardson and eventually arrived at bakery just on 10, service a bit
slow but all good, thanks for Colin for TEC and all that came.

Dave’s Ride to The Doctors Wednesday 7th December

Needing to have lunch and still get to an appointment that I had booked for 1pm, I offered a ride that would
give us a reasonable hour-and-a-half jaunt whilst still finishing fairly close to home. I was hoping to be out-
bid, but it was not to be, so I manfully set about fulfilling my contract. Our group of ten, with Colin as TEC,
set off through Gnangara, Guildford and Helena Valley. A squirt (or should that be a lug?) up Gooseberry Hill
got us to Kalamunda and the start of that glorious road that goes through the Mundaring water catchment
area to the south side of the impoundment. We followed this road and its successors to the outskirts of
Mundaring and then by-passed the town by keeping to the south of the old railway reserve/alignment. By
now we were only ten minutes away from The Hive (our coffee and slander choice for the day) when cruel
fate intervened in the form of three vehicles ahead of us and moving in the same direction. The first and last
of these were nimble safety trucks with flashing lights and caution signs, no problem. However, the middle
vehicle was a great beast of a thing, slowly edging its way forward as it restored the road markings from their
dunny grey colour to a brilliant white. No safe way for the mob of us to pass, so we pottered along until an
        opportunity eventually presented itself.
What more can I say, The Hive was good, the company was great and the doctor was late. Thanks all.
