kilometre working cattle station, and is open from May through
to October. Just 35km north of Moreton Telegraph Station you’ll
spot two large, white tractor tyres, another 6km east from
there and you’re at the tourist park.
Accommodation: Independent units, camping, shelters
Facilities: Showers, toilets, cafe/restaurant, licensed bar, regular
live entertainment
Stones Crossing 4WD Track to Weipa
Just North of Bramwell Junction is the Bramwell to Stones
Crossing Track. The track is narrow, steep and some winching
may be required – it is not suitable for caravans.
Stones Crossing on the Wenlock River has plenty of deep holes
and is well known to have a crocodile or two dwelling in its
waters. It is tidal so bear that in mind when choosing when to
cross. The track borders the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve,
please respect this property and do not stray from the track.
Bramwell Junction Roadhouse
Bramwell Junction Roadhouse is located at the beginning of the
southern section of the OTT.
A great place to have a break and grab something to eat at the
cafe, or stay for an overnight camp before hitting the OTT or
the Bamaga Road to the top. It’s also the last fuel stop before
the Jardine Ferry. The roadhouse is open from 7am to 7pm
during the tourist season.
Even if you’re not planning on doing the OTT there are a few
places where you can sneak in for a look without actually doing
any of the hard stuff and Palm Creek is the first of them - follow
the sign at the junction. There’s also room to camp so you can
spend a day being entertained.
Accommodation: Spacious campground
Facilities: Showers/toilets, shelters, fire pits (byo firewood),
takeaway & eat-in food, licensed drink sales
