Sam Creek
Sam Creek has a couple of options for crossing. The first will
see you continue on the main track and drop into the creek.
The bottom is sandy, however, as with all tracks do walk it first
as the entry can become eroded over the season resulting in
deep wheel ruts. The second is to take the rocky bank
bypassing most of the creek crossing.
Sam Creek is a top spot to camp with plenty of shade.
Downstream of the creek crossing a beautiful ‘secret’ waterfall
awaits you - take a dip and experience a special OTT waterfall
massage.
Just north of Sam Creek is your last chance to leave the OTT for
the Bamaga Road before the deeper crossings of Cannibal,
Logan and Nolan’s Brook. The track is generally more
challenging north to south and back tracking may be difficult.
Mistake Creek
Mistake Creek is a steepish drop down an eroded bank that
sees you track through its reasonably shallow waters. At times
it may be a bit of a haul coming out of the northern bank
particularly later in the season. However, it’s just a matter of
picking the correct line and speed.
Cannibal Creek
Cannibal Creek has two entry points. The first is a steep drop
onto a hard base. While the second entry will see you dropping
into a softer, deeper bottom with a hard right to exit – it can be
somewhat tight for those towing a camper trailer.
Cypress Creek
Cypress Creek is the most memorable because of the log bridge
crossing. Years of ‘repairs’ - new logs dropped over older logs
which have rotted and dropped into the creek - may appear
somewhat intimidating, however, get yourself lined up and it’s a
walk in the park. Shortly after the wet a rebuild of the bridge
may be on the cards.
