SUNDAY RIDE REPORTS
Moora Ride - Sunday 24th May
A fair size group, (eleven in all), turned up on a cloudless but chilly morning eager to do a bit of country open
ride riding that the roads to and back to Moora can provide. We welcomed Christopher Walsh to his first
ride with the group.
Brian put up his hand for tail end, route explained by Ken and to avoid the ever expanding Banksia Grove
suburb, we headed down to the end of the freeway and Hester Avenue to cross across to Wesco Road and
onto the Old Yanchep Road. When I ride the old road, memories come back of day trips to Yanchep when I
was a kid. A trip that took mum and dad a week to plan and a great adventure travelling in the “51 Ford
Prefect”. Now it’s just an interesting by pass road and a blip on the throttle.
Morning tea was at the Caladenia Mini Golf Park after a bit the usual of a fang up Military Road. The park
and land including farmhouse is yours if you have a spare $1,290,000.
As mentioned before, the morning was a bit chilly but the wind chill made fairly uncomfortable to ride,
especially those who still wearing summer riding gear.
From the mini golf we took Orange Springs Road to the Brand, a splash of fuel for a Harley a Badgingarra
(roadhouse being renovated so limited pumps available) and on to Moora by the long and fairly boring NW
Road. We had lost Mark on the Brand Highway, turning back to prevent hypothermia due to the cold wind.
An enjoyable lunch at the Drovers Inn, they do real ‘Man Size Burgers’, and the usual chats about motorbikes,
the state of affairs, motorbikes, retirement villages and motorbikes.
Although it had be planned to go via New Norcia on the way time, time had got away from us a bit so it was
home via Mogumber. Thanks to Brian for tail end duties and apologies for leaving you, Dave, Paul and Adrian
waiting at the Pub.
