A group of 18 WSW’s came to the showdown in Fremantle Friday night. They threw out a challenge
and we accepted. We grouped into 4’s and 5’s with a mix of Freo and WSW, had a group huddle for
instructions of play…. And that’s when the fun started!
It was a great round of shenanigans, fun, mayhem, chaos, excitement and lots of laughter. The art of
mini-golf is that there isn’t any… no strategies needed, just hit the damn ball and hope for the best.
There were lucky members with “holes in one”, and some not so lucky with more than 6 goes … we
won’t mention names! The course was quite tricky in some places that needed some skill, well, that
was I thought until Rod (Freo Julie’s hubby) decided to have a quick nap on the lounge, so I snuck up
behind him to give him a fright. Then there was poor old Ted (teddy bear) sprawled out over a large
chair, I don’t know if he was tired or drunk, but we had to avoid him to get to the hole. After finishing,
there was a blue 4WD parked in the front so 3 of us piled in for a photo. Then we re-grouped for the
final outcome… and the winners are…. (drum roll, please) …..Warnbro! Yay, WooHoo! We have a
trophy which will now become a perpetual one, ready for the next challenge. In need of food and
beverages, we set off to the Old Court House across the road and continuing the banter between us.
Thanks to Julie Dally and all the Freo members for the invitation and the organising, it was a great
evening with good friends.
