Hi Everyone
th
The last month has flown by and our next Social Meeting is on this Wednesday 18 May at the Charles
Hotham Hotel. Meals and socialising from 6.00pm and the meeting will commence at 7.00pm. Hopefully
we will see you there!
At the meeting we will be auctioning off some of our old club paraphernalia and T-shirts that have been in
storage for quite a few years. You will have received an email with the specific details of this previously.
My thanks to Phil Rousseaux for travelling from Colac to collect the goods from Rob Hunt’s place.
Thanks also to Rob for storing this stuff for years now.
Our ride calendar is looking healthy thanks to Mark Nicoll and all of those who have volunteered to lead
rides. However, as we move into winter it’s always a bit of a gamble with the weather and we have to be
flexible. Last week’s ride to meet up with the Grampian’s Branch guys for lunch at Beaufort was a great
success. Many thanks to Phillip Harvey for planning and leading an excellent ride. Phil even took us on
some roads that even Gentle had never been on before! A large group of bikes rolling into Beaufort even
caught the attention of the local newspaper photographer who took our photo for the paper.
Mal Stapleton has put out some advance notification of some upcoming social
events, with more news to come. Please get behind Mal and George who are
our Social Directors, and support the events that they put so much effort into
arranging.
As I write this a few of us will be up very early tomorrow morning and heading
to Lorne and beyond for the GOR Marathon. This is the Branch’s second
major fundraising event for the year. My heartfelt thanks to Russell Rankin,
Dennis Petersen, Stephen Travan, Ron Howell and Peter Hall for their support
in the event. Thanks also to Nigel Lloyd who was prepared to step up at short
notice if any one of us fell sick and couldn’t make it.
