think that I have held every position there is at some time plus doubled up
on a few. I have enjoyed most of my time on the Committee and it has only
been the support of most members that has kept me going. I am proud of
being heavily involved with the Andrew Love Centre Pink Ribbon Rides, the
Dragon Boat Races, the 5 or 6 Geelong Rallies, the Victorian Meet & Greet
Days. All these events have been the initiative of the Geelong Branch whilst
I have been on the Committee.
I have been very lucky to have had a couple of excellent mentors early in my
membership, being John Howie and Darkie Lewry, but also I have had some
really great friends and “guiding hands” with me on the Committees over
the past 9 years. My most enjoyable role within the Branch would have to be
the 7 years that I was the Ride Co-ordinator.
From here I will “try” to step back and let the new blood flow in the Branch,
but I am still prepared to help out with fund raising events, social events
and to lead some rides when asked. Therefore, I will still be around to annoy
some people and to help when requested.
I am looking forward to being an ordinary (maybe not so ordinary) member,
and not being so involved with the decision making of this potentially great
Ulysses Branch.
Cheers,
Ron Howell.
