Bill’s First Ride of the Year - Wednesday 4 January
Firstly, Happy New Year to all riders and families. Also a warm welcome to first time Wednesday rider Tre-
vor Ward on his Suzuki V Strom.
With no Karen, Dave, Mike P, or Chris to lead the group it was suggested that yours truly take the 10 riders
on a well-travelled route to Toodyay.
Looking at the weather forecast and the bureau tipping 80km/H winds around the foothills, I thought
might be a good day to leave the top box at home. Onward down through Neaves road into a buffeting
easterly wind and dodging some grass sods that had fallen off the back of a truck we were soon cruising
through the beautiful Chittering Valley.
Whilst riding along Julimar road I was thinking where’s that road off to the left that Karen usually turns
into? Then when I saw the sign it came to me ( Coondle West Rd ) I think a few behind me had to grab a
handful of brake lever there. Then apart from a couple of hundred metres of gravel on the Bindi- Bindi -
Toodyay road, we settled down in the Coca Cola Cafe for the weekly chin wag. One thing we did realise
whilst waiting in line at the Cafe was that there were no flies, I think they must have gone down south on
holiday with the rest of Perth!
Thanks all for your company and to Colin for TEC duties
