The ride started simply enough with a routine run to
Barnsley for morning tea.
Complications set in as we approached Millers Forest.
Woodberry Road was blocked by flooding around the Hunter
River.
So much for Plan A.
We doubled back through Beresfield to continue north via
Morpeth. No good.
Morpeth Bridge was closed. So much for Plan B.
McFarlane’s Road out of Morpeth was closed too. So much
for Plan C.
We doubled back to East Maitland and continued north via
Largs and Woodville.
Plan D worked for us!
A smooth ride brought us to Clarence Town. We headed
East via Limeburners Creek Road and joined The Bucketts
Way for the run into Stroud.
We arrived at the Country Club later than planned but all
happy and ready to demolish our lunch. It went down a treat!
The run home via Stroud Hill Road, Dungog, Paterson and
Freemans Waterhole rounded out the day with 414km on
the clock (more than the Big Day Out)!
