On January 23, 1953, Ethel married the love of her life, Wolter Smith. T o this union
one child was born, Bruce Marvin Smith. Years ofter the death of her beloved
husband, Wolter, she married Jomes Bryant.
Before moving to Florido, Ethel attended the First African Missionary Baptist
Church in Brunswick, Georgia under the postorship of Reverend George H.
Jackson.
On October 2, 20 2 3, Mother Ethel Wellman Smith Bryant was called home to be
with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jomes and Dollie
Wellman, siblings, Jomes W. Wellman, Jr and Ruth Naomi Muchison, her aunts Mrs.
Estella Mells and Miss L illie Moe Watts.
She leaves to mourn a son, Bruce Marvin Smith, Jacksonville, FL; two sisters: Dorcas
(Thomas) Everette, of Townsend, Delaware and Rose W (Norman) Poole of
Seaford, Delaware; one brother, Thomas J. (Robbie) Wellman of Brunswick, GA a
very special devoted niece, Yolando Verett of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of
nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, loving godchildren, her
current Pastor Michael L and First Lady Lu'Juono Bolden and her loving Hope
Chapel Family and friends.
Mother Ethel Bryant, a cherished member of Hope Chapel Ministries,
served in vital roles during her dedicated years with us. She shored
wisdom and love with the Education Committee, ensuring spiritual
growth. As a steward on the Financial Boord, she managed resources
responsibly. Contributions to the Boord of Directors shaped our ministry.
In the Administrative Office, she kept our operations smooth. As a
Children's Church T eocher, she ignited faith in our youngest. She
choired the Steering Committee, leading with grace and her voice in
the Hope Chapel Moss Choir added to our heavenly melodies. As a
beloved Mother on the Mother 's Boord, she comforted our
congregation. Her legacy of dedication and love will continue to
inspire us.
