OBITUARY


                                                                                                                                                                       ORDER OF SERVICE
           On Saturday, August 1, 2020 at approximately
 3:15 a.m., the Lord, Jesus Christ, gently awakened
 Annetta Ross Walker, and with delight, escorted her                                                                                                                 presiding:  deacon winston reid
 to her new home in Heaven.  Annetta Walker was
 born September 6, 1933 in Jacksonville, Florida to                                                                                                                      prelude and processional
 Cora Francisca Wood Ross and John Albert Ross, Sr.
 She was a product of the Duval County Public School
 system graduating from historic Stanton High School                                                                                                                    scripture and invocation
 in 1951.  Her college career started at Hampton In-
 stitute (now University), where she received a Bach-
 elor’s Degree in English and became a member of                                                                                              Selection
 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  Soon after graduation she ac-
 cepted a job as an English teacher at Douglas Anderson.  After a few years                                                                   Elder Elijah S. Jenkins Jr.
 of teaching, she earned her Master’s Degree in Library Science.  Annetta be-
 came the first librarian at Raines Senior High School and later retired as the                                                               Acknowledgements

 the two opening librarians of the newly built high school.


           In 1955, Annetta married Oscar Brooks, her High School sweetheart,                                                                 Reading of Obituary
 who died tragically shortly after they were married.  She later married Jimmie                                                               Dara Jefferson
 Walker and had three children, Phyllis, Philip and Cora whom she loved un-
 conditionally and was whole-heartedly devoted. She and the children were                                                                     Reflections
 actively involved in Jack and Jill of America, Inc.                                                                                          As a Friend

 However, she also remembered vividly “the day” she made a conscience
 decision to accept Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior.  She was a mem-                                                                    As a Church Mother and Member

 ber of Hope Chapel Ministries where she was an ordained Church Mother.

 Walker will always be remembered as one of the kindest and most sincere                                                                      Laurie Reid and Julie Coker
 individuals that you could ever meet.  She is described by family and friends
 alike as loving, patient, kind, humble, smart, funny, joyful, caring, and sup-
 portive with an intense faith in and sincere love for her Savior, Jesus.  Some of
 the last words she spoke on this earth were referring to her “Beautiful Jesus”.                                                              Beatrice Ross Coker

 daughter Casey Johnson.  She leaves behind to mourn, her Sister Beatrice
 Coker;  Children, Phyllis Walker, Philip Walker (LaShawn), and Cora Walker
 Johnson;  Grandchildren Antwan Furlow, Dara Jefferson (Devone), Cheikh                                                                       Words of Comfort
 Walker-Williams, Cody Johnson, Chase Johnson, Kaylin Walker, and Koen                                                                        Apostle, Dr. Jeannette C. Holmes-Vann
 Walker; Great grandchildren Julian, Darien, Caleb, and DaVaughn; Niec-
 es Angella Diawara (Paul), Carol Scott (Derek), Laurie Reid (Reggie), Joan                                                                   Recessional
 Coker, and Julie Coker; Nephews Michael Ross and Maurice Ross (Irene);
 Godchildren Joy Lawson, Julie Coker, and Geraud L. “Roddie” Moreland, II,
 along with a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
