Dear Business Leaders,

It is my pleasure as mayor to join everyone in celebrating this year’s Minority Enterprise
Development (MED) Week!

I often say the next national company could be sitting in a Jacksonville garage right now. A major
part of encouraging Jacksonville’s growth and development is through supporting, empowering, and
promoting small and minority businesses right here at home. I want to thank the First Coast Business
Alliance (FCBA) for continuing to sponsor this important annual celebration of small and minority
businesses in the Jacksonville community.

Together, we will create a Jacksonville that works for all of us. By streamlining the permitting and
procurement processes and raising awareness of small business resources like façade grants and
incubator programs, we will reach our goal of Jacksonville becoming the small business capital of
the Southeast. Thank you for being a vital part of our business community, and for choosing to call
Jacksonville home.
