META EMPLOYMENT SERVICES AND THE CITY OF BELLEVILLE “LIGHT IT UP!” ON OCTOBER 21ST, 2021
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), and this October our community will be part of a historic first: a
nationwide celebration of the “Light It Up!” campaign to support disability awareness. This year’s campaign theme is, “Engaging Talent in
the Disability Inclusion Evolution”.
“Light It Up!” involves communities coming together to acknowledge the barriers that people with disabilities face around employment. By
wearing purple and blue clothing, and lighting purple and blue lights wherever possible, you too can stand in solidarity with Canada to
advocate for a more inclusive workforce.
META Employment Services actively supports both people with and without disabilities on their employment journey. They have partnered
with the City of Belleville to “Light It Up!” for NDEAM this October, by changing the lights on the bridge and the city sign to match the
campaign colours. “Light It Up!” began in 2020 as an Ontario-wide event, but this year the event will go national.
META and the City of Belleville are proud to be a part of this campaign from the start, and proud to help shine a literal light on the people
with disabilities who contribute to businesses and communities across the country. Visit www.odenetwork.com to find out how to
participate in the Light It Up! 2021 campaign. You can follow the initiative using the hashtags: #LightItUpForNDEAM #LightItUp2021
