CENTRAL HASTINGS MOURNS THE LOSS OF DARYL KRAMP
Daryl Kramp was many different things for many different people. A trusted friend,
community champion, respected political figure at all three levels of government, business
owner, police officer, fast ball pitcher and most importantly a loving father and devoted
husband. Born in Kirkland Lake in 1947. He died on February 8th, 2024. His funeral took
place at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church on Feb. 15th.
He leaves behind a legacy of hope and inspiration that will be cherished by all whose lives he
touched. The outpour of love and support for the Kramp family with beautiful tributes and
heartfelt condolences is a testament to the impact he had on others. On social media,
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre mourned the loss of “my old friend”. Former Prime
Minister Stephen Harper remembered Kramp “as an outstanding public service and
Canadian patriot”
Both Premier Doug Ford and Caroline Mulroney said in separate posts, “I’m devastated”. Minister Todd Smith shared that
he was one of a kind, a true gentleman, a real people person and his many accomplishments has left a lasting legacy in the
communities he represented. MPP Rick Bresee, shared his advice that Daryl had given him; “To always lead with your
heart”, Mayor Tom Deline shared that Daryl dedicated his life to this community and leaves behind a legacy of achievement
and progress.
Daryl was a very special person. He loved his community, his family and his friends. He was a fierce advocate for what he
believed in and was driven by principles of compassion and helping others. Flags across the region were lowered as a mark
of respect.
As his family remembers his life and mourns his death they take comfort in the touching comments and letters they have
received. Among the thousands of comments and stories shared, he was described as a legend, man of great character,
prince of a man, a force, a kind and good man, always went above and beyond, always had a vison, infectious personality,
booming voice, a real gem, great Canadian, barrel of laughs, a generous man, a man of Big ideas, You can literally see his
fingerprints across our community from all he touched, overwhelming presence, he changed my life, heart of gold, BOSS,
fun and classy, most genuine person in parliament, he was in politics for the right reasons, he sure could throw a hell of a
curve ball, he was fair, he radiated kindness and decency, he was so proud of you girls, I loved the way he looked at Carol
Ann, True love.
With heavy hearts, the people of our small town and surrounding area have illustrated the
strength, comfort and importance of our close knit communities. During this very
difficult time, The Kramp family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the warmth,
generosity and selfless acts of kindness extended by countless individuals.
Daryl and his wife Carol Ann were a larger than life team and a beautiful love story. The
shores of Moira Lake, in Madoc Ontario have been home to the Kramp family for decades.
Daryl is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Ann Kramp (Kelly) and his three daughters
Kari Layne Kramp (Brad Phillips) Taryl Kramp (Geordie Nelson) and Shelby Kramp-
Neuman (Tadum Neuman) along their seven grandchildren; Ky, Anna Belle, Tori, Ainsley,
Reese, Henry and Kash.
His legacy will inspire all of us.
He left behind a world made
bright by his presence.
