The Canada Cord is the highest award that a Pathfinder can earn. It encourages girls to
meet new people, learn more about themselves and their abilities, and puts their
leadership skills into action. The requirements include completing the Pathfinder
Program as well as extra initiative in the areas of Community Service, Volunteering, and
specific hours spent in developing Leadership or Camping skills.
On Oct 23rd, I was invited to the Girl Guides Canada Cord Ceremony for their former
Pathfinder (Current Ranger) member Serenity Winterburn. Kind thanks to Lila Evans
who, in my absence due to me being in Ottawa, was honoured to present Serenity with
her Canada Cord Certificate at her Ceremony on my behalf. Guiding has been going
strong in Madoc this year for 50 years and Serenity has been a valuable member of
Guiding in Madoc for 10 years, helping to make our community a better place.
Congratulations Serenity!
