On April 21, Officer Danny Fleischhacker was in the 15th District when the victim of a stabbing came through the front doors, bleeding profusely. The officer immediately began to apply pressure to the wound and attempted to stop the bleed- ing. Officers Sreniawski and Mamadou Diarra then came to the victim’s aid by applying a tourniquet to further stop the
bleeding. EMS arrived and transported the victim to Stroger Hospital. The victim surely would have perished without the assistance of the officers.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge #7 presents Officers Steven Sreni- awski, Danny Fleischhacker and Mamadou Diarra with Life Saving Awards.
Officer David Zdanys Star #14355
Sergeant William Meador Star #1003
On June 11, Officer David Zdanys and Sergeant William Meador were on surveillance when they monitored a call of shots fired and a person shot. They relocated to the shooting scene, where they discovered a male shot in the arm and a female shot in the neck. Immediately, their LEMAR training kicked in. They used a quick clot bandage to staunch the flow of blood from the female’s wound and a makeshift compres-
sion bandage on the male victim. EMS arrived and transport- ed both victims to the hospital. Without the efforts of these officers, the victims may have perished.
