With a constant presence throughout the City’s neigh- borhoods, Chicago Police Officers always have an oppor- tunity to interact with citizens of all ages. That’s never tru- er than when the weather warms up. Residents young and
old make the time to get outside to participate in commu- nity events, and they often have the chance to meet and greet their local cops. Here’s a look at some of the recent examples of CPD being active in the community:
The 8th District CAPS held a bike safety event on June 17, where neigh- borhood children had the opportunity to have their bicycles checked out before taking a ride through the slalom course. There were also prize give- aways and food treats available to the kids.
On June 21, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation partnered with Mc- Donald’s for a “Get Behind the Vest” event at the restaurant on South Cicero Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. Money raised went toward the purchase of 10 new bulletproof vests.
