On Oct. 7, 2014 the U.S. Marshalls Task Force and 7th District personnel were attempting to pick up an offender at 72nd and Lowe.
Upon arrival the offender began shoot- ing, striking Captain Edward Kulbida and Detective Christopher Ross. The officers returned fire, striking the offender and were able to carry Captain Kulbida and Detective Ross to safety.
The detective and captain were trans- ported to the hospital for treatment. Two
offenders were captured in the residence. One was charged and the other expired from his wounds.
