OFFICERS OF THE MONTH
On Nov. 8, Officer Robert Caviani and Officer Nicholas Picicci were working in the 25th District when they responded to call of a man down at 31st and Marmora.
Upon their arrival, Caviani and Picicci were told that a victim was on the floor in the bathroom, not breathing and turning gray. The officers went to victim and discovered he had no pulse. Then, they began CPR and, after a short while, the victim started breathing on his own.

CFD arrived and transported the man to the hospital for further treatment. Due to the quick actions of these officers, a citizenwasbroughtbackfromthebrink of death.

On Sept. 12, Officer LaToya Williams was monitoring the radio when a call requesting a CPR-certified officer came across. Officer Williams immediately responded to the scene and was met by the victim’s grandmother, who was carrying her 2-year-old grandson. The child was not breathing and had turned blue.
Without hesitation, Officer Williams began CPR and did not stop until she saw signs of life in the child. The Chicago Fire Department arrived at the scene and commended Officer Williams for performing CPR tirelessly. With instinct, training, determination and excellent response from Officer LaToya Williams, the 2-year-old child’s life was saved.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7, presents Officer LaToya Williams with the Lifesaving Award.
