On June 6, 2017, Officers Artur Tomkow and Gregory Strans- ki were leaving rifle qualifications when they stopped for a red light. A gray Infiniti pulled in front of a vehicle in front of their car, and an offender emerged from the sunroof and started shooting at that vehicle. The offender’s vehicle fled from the scene with the officers in pursuit. During the pursuit, an of- fender leaned out the window and shot at the officers. At this point, Officer Stranski, fearing for his and his partner’s lives, returned fire and struck the offender. The vehicle crashed,
and the driver fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. Re- covered from the vehicle were two handguns. The offenders were charged and arrested. The officers’ quick and coura- geous reactions helped remove two dangerous offenders from the streets of the city of Chicago.
