 Holiday Cheer
Officers end 2020 with gifts and spirit for residents
The holidays are supposed to be a joyous occasion when friends and family come together to celebrate the closing of one chapter and opening of another, but this year was different. The COVID-19 pandemic replaced gatherings at the dinner table with video chats, hearty feasts with simple meals and warm hugs with masks. During these unprecedented times, Chicago Police Officers were still determined to spread the holiday spirit.
One of the biggest things that comes to mind during the holi- days is presents, and there was no shortage of gifts in December.
Chicago Police Officers from multiple districts held toy drives and personally delivered gifts to children all over the city, includ- ing one district that drove a Santa wagon around town.
For officers and residents alike, it has been a tough year, to say the least. But the city of Chicago put its best foot forward to have, even for a quick moment, a holiday filled with love and cheer.
Some of the efforts from Chicago Police Officers are show- cased here:
Devoted officers in the 6th District struck a deal with Santa Claus this year to make sure that a very special family in Englewood had pres- ents under the tree just in time for Christmas.
ChiCook Officers, Chi- GivesBack and the Chi- cago Police Department banded together to de- liver more than $2,000 worth of toys on Dec. 19. The four young children got to meet with the of- ficers, receive gifts from the big man himself and celebrate a Christmas they won’t soon forget.
