Cops in the Community
The heart, and heat, of the summer arrived in July around Chicago. And, while it’s been a challenging year, Chicago Police officers and residents continued to be there for one another with some fun and games, special interactions and plenty of food, all as kind gestures and ways to support those struggling with the basics.
Playing in the streets isn’t bad when you get to do it with the police — es- pecially 6th District offi- cers who jumped right in as part of the Chicago Park District’s Rollin’ Rec program. Behind the masks were many smiles as officers skipped rope, raced kids and joined in other sports activities.
At a time when people need a little help, 25th District officers teamed with the Grace and Peace Church in early July for the district’s Community Drive Through Giveaway. Many residents stopped by district headquarters to pick up food from helpful officers.
