Officers on the 24th District bike patrol paid a special visit to wish a happy birthday to Howard, a World War II veteran, who turned 93 in late June.
Fresh fruits, vegeta- bles and other items were on the menu as 11th District officers held a “pop up” food pantry on North Monticello Avenue. The event was one of several “pop ups” in the district to pro- vide meals, health- care and other necessities to com- munity members.
Officers held an outdoor roll call and were offered food and frozen treats as part of Unity Night at West Lawn Park. The local neighborhood watch group and local business donated the lunch as a show of appreciation for the of- ficers.
