Petals
Each petal is painted referring to the colored photo, using a no. 6 or 8 chisel blender brush and three values of pink (Pink Light, Pink Medium, Pink Dark).
Block in color as referenced in colored photo for placement suggestions.
Lightly mop toward the direction of the center, wiping mop on paper towel after EACH stroke. I refer to this as “Swipe & Wipe.”
Streaks are preferred to indicate texture, so avoid blending smoothly.
Pink Mixes [begin with Pink Medium]
All mix radios are approximate as everyone sees color differently. Mixes may need to be adjusted to your preference.
Pink Highlight Mix: White+Pink Light Mix (1:tch) Pink Light Mix: Pink Medium Mix+White+Cadmium-
Barium Yellow Medium [2:1:tch]
Pink Medium Mix: Alizarin Crimson+Grumbacher Red+Cadmium-Barium Yellow Medium [3:1:1]
Pink Dark Mix: Pink Medium Mix+Alizarin Crimson+Burnt Umber [3:1:tch]
Center
Use the enlarged photo for color placement suggestions. Tap lightly with your mop brush to blend between colors.
Using Green Mixes, tap in as shown in Step-by-Step. Using Cadmium-Barium Yellow Medium, apply as shown in
Step-by-Step.
Use mop brush to lightly blend each color into its neighboring color.
Pistols: Fill in each pistol with gradient of green to yellow to pink. Blend lightly with liner brush pinched flat.
Tips of pistols are filled in with Burnt Umber. Highlight each with addition of Green Highlight Mix.
Create the suggestion of veins with Pink Dark Mix as shown in photo. Lightly mop at each end of vein to blend in. Green veins are applied same as pink, mopping ends to blend.
