FINAL TOUCHES
This daylily has highlighted edges, apparently reflection from the sun.
Use your favorite liner brush and Pink Highlight Mix to define edges. Pinch the end of your liner brush to form a flat edge. Blend lightly into the petal.
Final highlights and shading are refined with addition of Pink Highlight Mix and Pink Dark Mix, respectively. Where further deepening is desired, use Pink Dark Mix and water for a transparent effect.
Highlight with addition of Pink Highlight Mix. BACKGROUND
With Green Mixes and no. 8 chisel blender brush, slip-slap values around daylily.
Pick up darks and lights to create the illusion of leafy background with a slip-slap blend. This should be blotchy, not smooth. Lightly mop to soften strokes.
With same slip-slap technique, add stronger values of Pink Dark Mix to indicate buds or other blossoms sitting behind. Lightly mop to soften strokes.
Sign and date your artwork. Varnish may be applied when completely dry, which may take a few weeks, with Krylon Clear Satin Spray Varnish.
Thank you for painting this project with me. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have sharing it with you.
