PREPARATION
Generously spray the mat board with Matte Finish two or three times; be sure to do this outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Transfer your design(s) to the surface using the appropriate color of transfer paper. Do not transfer details at this time.
I had an oval cutout made for the painting of the watch. If you wish to do this, cut a piece of canvas paper a little larger than the opening and basecoat it with Midnight Blue acrylic before trans- ferring the main lines of the design. You do not need to spray the prepared canvas with Matte Finish.
LET’S PAINT
KEYS AND NAIL
Place the Medium Value and then the Light Value. Blend. Shade with Burnt Umber mixed into the edge of the Dark Value. Blend. Highlight with Titanium White.
WHISTLE
Place the Light Value, then add the Medium Value on each side. Blend. Add the Dark Value to round off the bottom of each whistle. Blend with the Medium Value. Shade with Burnt Umber. Blend. Highlight in the light area with Titanium White+Cadmium Yellow Light. Blend. For a smoother appearance, use the flat of your brush to “soften” by lightly mopping (stroking) in the direc- tion of the whistle. Add a shine of Titanium White in the high- lighted area.
