Ibegan taking calligraphy classes about three years ago. My biggest discovery was to use watercolor paints or gouache in place of lettering ink. This way, our lettering colors can be endless! I don’t recommend using acrylic paints with a
calligraphy nib because the paint will dry in the nib, making it hard to clean the nib.
LET’S PAINT

LETTERING
You can either use a C4 nib or trace the letters and paint them. Use Indigo Blue+Ivory Black+Permanent White for the lettering. Add the bird using Indigo Blue+Permanent White. The beak is Spectrum Yellow+tch Ivory Black.
BORDER
STEP 1: Load a brown mix of Spectrum Red+Spectrum Yellow+Indigo Blue+Permanent White into the pointed nib. Free- hand the branches around the card. Each card does not have to have exactly the same pattern or color. These are hand-painted cards, so it’s fine if each card is slightly different.
STEP 2: Load the no. 3 round with a green mix of Spectrum Yellow+Indigo Blue+Ivory Black. Make little teardrop-shaped leaves. To give them a more natural look, try to make the leaves different sizes and in different directions using slightly different colors.
STEP 3: Load the no. 3 round with a pink mix of Spectrum
