 CHEESE KNIFE
STEP 1: Basecoat the blade with Grey Sky. When dry, cov- er with Dazzling Metallics Shimmering Silver. Apply Lamp Black to the ring between the handle and the blade.
STEP 2: Float Payne’s Grey to shade the bottom rounded area of the blade and under the ring being sure to blend well. STEP 3: Highlight the blade at the bottom right with float- ed Snow White.
STEP 4: Float Snow White on the ends of the black ring. STEP 5: HANDLE: Basecoat the apple handle with But- termilk, and the green skin with Irish Moss.
STEP 6: With floated Camel, shade under the apple skin and on the apple meat.
STEP 7: Repeat shading for a slightly deeper color.
STEP 8: Apply a half circle “seed pocket” in the center of
the cutting edge and add a Lamp Black seed to it. With floated Hauser Dark Green, shade the ends of the skin.
Apply floated Burnt Umber shading along the outer edges of the shelf and behind some of the items. Using the largest angular shader no. 5⁄8" or 3⁄4", pick and choose as to what you will shade behind. Don’t shade behind every- thing (see Step-by-Step on page 73).
The wavy solid line along the edge of the shelf is Hauser Medium Green. Follow that wavy line with a thin line of Margarita.
Paint shelf outer edge, legs, and underneath side Sour Apple Green.
Varnish entire shelf. It may take several layers to get the fabric to feel satiny. Sand lightly and wipe clean between the layers of varnish to achieve the perfect result.
