Interesting pieces for DecoArt Chalky Finish paint can be found at garage sales, in attics, at secondhand furniture shops—even in your current furniture col- lection. This is a chance to give new life to an old,
worn, or tired piece. The piece shown is interestingly carved with fancy knobs. When I found this piece, it was covered with an old card table that had no legs and the top was missing. I happened to have an old tabletop that fit on the top perfectly. The possibilities are endless with this product. I have painted chairs, tables, rockers, a dining table, serving trays, and more. The brushes I recommend aren’t required, but they are a good invest- ment if you plan to finish several large pieces.
LET’S PAINT
STEP 1
If using a secondhand piece, scrub and wash the whole piece inside and out. Let dry. If the surface is extremely rough, use medium-grit sandpaper to smooth the surface; otherwise, no sanding is necessary.
