BARBARA BUNSEY ANSWERS A CALL TO VOLUNTEER AND GIVES THE GIFT OF PAINTING LESSONS!

Before school started, there was a note in the parish newsletter asking for parents, grandparents, etc., to volunteer to teach an elective class to the junior high students in our school. I thought I could teach decorative painting, and then quickly told myself I didn’t have time.
“Someone” kept tugging at my heart and
I offered to teach my Halloween Trio boxes.
Seven delightful young ladies painted with me! Unfortunately the class was only 40 minutes
long, so instead of doing all three boxes I decided
to teach the candy corn since it’s the most basic
and then we painted one of my Holly Berry Santa ornaments. I let them be creative on the band around the lid of the candy corn box. They all did such a great job and I let them glitter! Some did more, some did less, and they all are wonderful. Santa turned out so adorable!
The experience of teaching these young people was very rewarding and I am so proud of the job they did on their projects! I hope to be able to go back in January.

CHAPTERS JOINING TOGETHER TO PAINT FOR
UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN
SDP’s California chapters, the Pacific Coast Artists (PCA) and the Orange County Tole and Decorative Painters (OCTDP), joined forces with the Orange County Scroll Saw Association (OCSSA) this year to paint number, alphabet and animal puzzles. The puzzles were given to underprivileged children through several charity organizations during the holidays.
Members Linda Martin of PCA and Carol Lembke of OCTDP were instrumental in coordinating the efforts after they were approached by OCSSA. Members who helped out were Sandi Crawford, Delia Griffith, Onya Tolmasoff, Ruth Bradley, Robyn McComb, Rama Shotwell, Sherry Choquette, and Laurinda Rick.
