126 The Decorative Painter • ISSUE NO. 3, 2014
Ifirst saw these little tin pockets at a convention and visualized how versatile they could be. They can be hung as an ornament, worn as a pin, or used as a refrigera-
tor magnet. Change the painted designs and fill with tiny flowers, hearts for Valentine’s Day, tulips and bunnies for spring, ghosts and leaves for fall, and so many more de- signs with some imagination. I chose to paint these in a winter theme and have each of them as a “pocket full of fun.” I know you’ll have as much fun as I did painting both of my creations!
PREPARATION
Sand the surface of the tins with fine-grit sandpaper to roughen the shiny finish. Apply a coat of DecoArt Paint Adhe- sion Medium to both tins and let dry. Basecoat the Holly and Berries tin with Oyster Beige and the Snowman tin with Deep Midnight Blue.
LET’S PAINT
HOLLY AND BERRIES TIN
After the initial basecoat, continue layers of Oyster Beige until full coverage is achieved. Allow to dry; transfer the design.
