CANDY CANE
Basecoat the lower three white lines of the candy cane with Warm White+Yellow Oxide and the top ones with Warm White.
Basecoat the red lines of the candy cane with Naph- thol Red.
Add a reflection of the candy cane on the base of the glass with Warm White+Yellow Oxide where it has a No. 1 in Diagram 2 Stage 1 and with Warm White+Naphthol Red where it has a No. 2.
REFLECTIONS ON THE TABLE UNDER THE GLASS BALLS
Using blending and glazing, paint washes of Ultra- marine Blue on the right side and Naphthol Red+Carbon Black+Ultramarine Blue (1:1:tch) on the left side.
Use the same gray mixes for the metal to paint the re- flections on the table and follow Diagram 2.
CANDY CANE REFLECTIONS
Paint the candy cane reflections on the table with Warm White for the white areas and Naphthol Red for the red areas.
TABLE
Apply DecoArt Traditions Extender & Blending Me- dium and shade the table with Cool Black Mix (Burnt Um- ber+Ultramarine Blue). Follow Diagram 3.
GLASS
Shade the glass with Cool Black Mix+Carbon Black on the bottom. Shade glass with a Dark Brown Mix. Follow Diagram 3.
Take this dark brown mix with a little of Opaque White and shade the bottom candy cane reflection on the table. Let dry.
THIRD STAGE CANDY CANE
Wet the area with Extender and shade the candy cane with a float of Opaque White+Carbon Black. This time make it skinnier. Mop it. Let dry.
Wet the candy cane with Extender and highlight first with Warm White and then with Opaque White only in the area outside the glass. Blend using a mop.
Highlight the red stripes with Naphthol Red. Paint a strong shine at the top with Opaque White.
Add bright green reflections on the table and the wall with Medium Green+Opaque White+Yellow Oxide. Add a small amount of Opaque White+Yellow Oxide to the bright green reflections on the table and the wall.
Add Opaque White reflection on the table.
STAGE 2
RED ORNAMENT
Highlight with Opaque White+Naphthol Red where indicated in Diagram 3.
BLUE ORNAMENT
Highlight with Opaque White.
GREEN ORNAMENT
Apply Warm Black Mix where indicated as WB in Diagram 3.
Highlight with Opaque White+Yellow Oxide.
CANDY CANE
Wet the area with DecoArt Traditions Extender & Blending Medium and shade the candy cane with a float of Opaque White+Carbon Black. Mop it. Let dry.
Wet with Extender and shade again with Carbon Black+Opaque White, this time a darker mix.
