PREPARATION
Spray metal plate with Rust-Oleum Automobile Spray Pri- mer (following manufacturer’s instructions) and let dry thor- oughly. Paint the border with French Grey Blue. Next, paint inside of plate with Antique Maroon.
The relief pattern on the border is painted with Antique Maroon.
Trace pattern onto tracing paper and transfer to center of plate using white graphite. There is no top or bottom to this design, but the flowers are numbered and you will refer to that when painting.
SETTING UP YOUR PALETTE
Using the palette knife, scoop out small portions of each color and place them onto the palette a couple of inches apart. Clean the palette knife between colors to keep the colors pure. When making mixes, pull a little bit of paint out from the pile to a separate area and mix the value called for. If not all the pure color is used for your painting, scrape it up and put it back in the jar. No waste!
