MIXING PAINT
When mixing values for each flower, I suggest starting with the medium value. It is from this val- ue that your light and dark values will originate. Be sure to make an ample amount so that you can pull a small amount aside and from there mix your light and dark values.
I have painted a color value chart for you to refer to when making your mixes.
COLOR MIXES
FLOWER 1
Medium Mix: Titanium White+Bismuth Yellow+Carbon Black 01 (1:1:tch)
Light Mix: Medium Mix+Titanium White+Bismuth Yellow Dark Mix: Medium Mix+Ultramarine Blue+Carbon Black 01 (1:1:tch)
Highlight Mix: (only the front 3 petals get a highlight) Light Mix+Titanium White+Bismuth Yellow
Tint: Quinacridone Crimson 01
FLOWER 2
Medium Mix: Titanium White+Bismuth Yellow+ Ultramarine Blue+Carbon Black 01 (to slightly dull color) (1:1:1:tch)
Light Mix: Medium Mix+Titanium White
Dark Mix: Medium Mix+Ultramarine Blue+Carbon Black 01 (1:tch:tch)
Highlight Mix: Titanium White+Light Mix (1:tch)
Tint: Quinacridone Crimson 01
FLOWER 3
Medium Mix: Bismuth Yellow+Medium Mix from Flower 1 Light Mix: Medium Mix+Titanium White+Bismuth Yellow Dark Mix: Medium Mix+Carbon Black 01 (1:tch)
Highlight Mix: Titanium White+Light Mix
Tint: Genesis Red
FLOWER 4
Medium Mix: Bismuth Yellow+Ultramarine Blue
Light Mix: Medium Mix+Titanium White
Dark Mix: Medium Mix+Ultramarine Blue/Carbon Black 01 (1:1:tch)
Highlight & Outline Mix: Light Mix+Titanium White
(use the liner brush with a touch of thinning medium in it for outlining)

Basecoat with the Medium Mix of Flower 3.
Tint ends of each petal with Genesis Red.
CENTER FLOWER
Medium Mix: Titanium White+Quinacridone Crimson 01+Dioxazine Purple 01+ Carbon Black 01
(to slightly dull color) (1:1:tch:tiny tch)
Light Mix: Titanium White+Medium Mix
Highlight Mix: Titanium White+Quinacridone Crimson 01 (to make a very light pink color)+Light Mix (1:tch:tch)
Dark Mix: Medium Mix+Carbon Black 01 to darken and
dull color (1:tch)
Trim petals using the liner and Titanium White+Bismuth Yellow+Carbon Black 01 (1:1:tch)
It should look similar to the Light Mix of Flower 1.
Put a bit of thinning medium in the liner to help the paint flow off your brush.
BURGUNDY LEAVES
Basecoat Mix: Quinacridone Crimson 01+Burnt Umber Light Light Mix: Titanium White+Basecoat Mix
Veins: Light Mix with a bit of thinning medium in the brush. Shade at the base of the leaves where they go under a flower petal with a touch of Carbon Black 01. Do this while the leaf
is still wet so the dark blends in softly.
BRANCHES
Basecoat with Burnt Umber Light with a bit of thinning medium in the brush.
Light Mix: Burnt Umber Light+Titanium White
