IMPORTANT NOTE: The Genesis heat-set oils do not dry unless exposed to adequate heat for the required amount of time. I have suc- cessfully dried my paintings using my kitchen oven. I preheat the oven to 265 degrees and place my surface in the oven for about 6-7 min- utes. I then remove the surface with pothold- ers (careful – remember it’s hot) and let it cool. (Don’t try using hair dryer – it won’t work.)
I heat-set the painting whenever I want to dry it before proceeding with other colors or layers of paint. I follow the same procedure for the final drying when I have completed my painting.
You don’t have to clean your brushes during the painting process. Just wipe well between colors with a soft paper towel like Viva. The paint won’t dry in your brushes. When I com- plete the painting, I will clean my brushes with dishwashing soap like Dawn or Murphy’s Oil Soap and warm water. I pinch the brushes dry with a paper towel to reshape.
