ACRYLIC
Deep Burgundy, and highlight with Antique Rose. Add jacket buttons with dots of An- tique Rose. Highlight the sleeve of the jacket with a stroke of Spice Pink, starting at the shoulder. Add the shirt, collar, and shirt buttons with Warm White. Add the bow and tie with Soft Blue.
Basecoat the hat with Zinc and add a hatband just above the brim with Lamp Black. Add the small twig and leaves with Foliage Green. Basecoat the stockings with Warm White, and stripe with Country Red. Notice that not all of the red stripes are solid. HEART: Basecoat with Antique Rose. Add a shade with Country Red and then with Deep Burgundy. Highlight with Spice Pink, starting near the center of the heart and extending down. Notice that this highlight is heaviest toward the left side of the heart.
Basecoat the stem and leaves with Hauser Medium Green and highlight with Foli- age Green. Basecoat the round flower with Warm White, and then add a small True Ochre disk near the upper right. Add a small highlight dot of Warm White to the center of the disk.
Add the stamen with the black pen.
BASKET TRIM
Paint the rolled trim around the top edge of the basket any color you would like. I used Plantation Pine and Spice Pink for the tray’s trim. I added finger dots inside the tray with Soft Blue.
FINISHING
You may wish to line the floor of the tray with your choice of paper. I cut a scrap- booking page to fit and glued it to the tray’s floor. For some extra flare, wrap part of the handle with fabric of your choice, tying the ends in a bow. Paint puffed hearts any colors you choose, and hang as many as you would like from the handle.
Spray the entire piece with your favorite matte spray finish, according to the manufac- turer’s instructions. Finish the piece with several coats of your favorite water-based varnish.
