LET’S PAINT
SIDE 1
CHICKEN PATCH
Using a no. 16 flat with Oyster Beige, basecoat the patch. Basecoat the chicken with Warm White using the no. 12 flat. Shade with thinned Zinc on the three tail feathers (where they meet the body) and around the entire wing. Using the no. 8 flat, add Lamp Black checks to the wing. Add feathers under the wings with Indian Turquoise, and shade with Wedgewood Blue.
Add the heart on the chicken’s chest with Antique Rose. Stroke in the neckband with Foliage Green and shade each end with Hauser Medium Green. Add the waddle and comb with Country Red and highlight with Spice Pink. Finish off the chicken using True Ochre for the legs and beak.
Once the paint is dry, add the dash border with the black pen.
BLACKBIRD PATCH
Using the no. 16 flat, basecoat the patch with Reindeer Moss Green.
Basecoat the bird with Lamp Black. Add shading to wing and tail with Zinc. Basecoat the beak, legs, and eye with True Ochre. Highlight with French Vanilla. Basecoat the heart with Antique Rose. Shade the point first with Country Red, and then with Deep Burgundy. Highlight with Spice Pink.
Stroke in the vine and leaves that float across both patches with Hauser Medium Green. Add dots along the vine using the end of the stylus with Warm White. Basecoat the three hearts with Antique Rose. Shade the peaks first with Country Red, and then with Deep Burgundy. Highlight with Spice Pink.
Using a liner, add the strings to the hearts with Snow White. Once the paint is dry, add the dash border with the black pen.
SIDE 2
FLOWERS
Basecoat the leaves and stems with Hauser Medium Green. Shade with Lamp Black and highlight with Foliage Green. Add a dot just below the flower with Foliage Green.
HEART-SHAPED FLOWERS: Basecoat with Spice Pink using the no. 6 filbert. Add a stroke between each peak with French Vanilla using the no. 1 liner.
FLOWER 1: Basecoat with French Vanilla. Add the square piece of plaid with Tangelo Orange. Add intersecting lines with Deep Burgundy. Allow to dry. Add dots and stitch marks with the black pen.
FLOWER 2: Basecoat with Country Red. Add the circle in the center with Spice Pink. Add smaller dots with French Vanilla and a finger dot (which is actually created with your finger!) in the center with Tangerine Orange. Al- low to dry. Add the stamen and the dash border that encircles each section of the flower head with the black pen.
FLOWER 3: Basecoat with Blue Harbor. Add the largest circle inside the flower with Purple Cow and the smaller center circle with Grape Juice. Add accent lines with Indian Turquoise to the outside ring of the flower.
Add dash borders around each flower head with the black pen.
