STEP-BY-STEP
PUMPKIN, STEM, AND LEAF
STEP 1
STEM
I let the background be my base color. Dry- brush Citron Green at the top and at the left of the cut end. Repeat adding some Chartreuse Yellow. Wipe brush on the dry paper towel, pick up a bit of Irish Moss on the brush, then add some Black Plum and brush this at the bottom of the stem and at the right of the cut end.
Make the leaves whatever color you choose. If you have more orange on the base, make orange/ red leaves. If you have more green/yellow, make green and/or yellow leaves.
GREEN/YELLOW LEAVES
Let your background be your base color. Using the no. 10 dry brush, add Irish Moss, then Citron Green, but a little smaller area than the last color, then Chartreuse Yellow for highlights on areas that are misted with greens or yellows. I also added some Tangelo in spots to warm up the leaves. My leaf above the pumpkin had some orange on the background, so I added some Persimmon, then Heritage Brick, and a little Tangelo to highlight. With dry dome, brush in some Evergreen at the base of the leaves; repeat, adding Black Plum to dirty brush.
VEINS: Line in with Evergreen.
RED LEAF
Let your background be your base color. Using the no. 10 dry brush, add Persimmon to the background. Add highlights with Tangelo to the tips of the leaf sections. I added some Tangelo to the center as well. Add Heritage Brick at base and here and there on the leaf. Pick up Black Plum on dirty brush and add to base to shadow. VEINS: Line in with a brush-mix of Heritage Brick and Black Plum.
THANKS
Stencil in with Evergreen. Pick up Citron Green on the toe and tap on highlights to the top of each section; repeat, adding a bit of Chartreuse Yellow to dirty brush. Wipe brush on a dry paper towel and tap in Black Plum at the bottom of each area.
