This is the second in a spring flower series presented on a wrap-around canvas. The first project was Flow- ering White Lily published in Issue #2, 2013, of The Decora-
tive Painter.
PREPARATION
Apply three liberal coats of Plantation Pine to the surface and wrapped edges of the canvas. If three coats do not give a deep and full coverage, you might need to apply additional coats. Pull color in all four directions to be sure that no small dots of white remain in the weave. Add as many layers of Plantation Pine as necessary until you achieve a deep, even color and there is no value variation on the canvas surface. Allow to dry.
Always keep track of the exact bottle of background color originally used for your background, in case you need to do touch-ups later.
Transfer only the main design lines, tracing them accu- rately. Use a 101⁄2" full-size pattern that fits the 6" x 12" canvas.
