PAINTING TIPS
I use a small, fine
sponge to apply the back-
ground color because the
paint goes on more quickly
and easily this way. You can use a large flat brush if that is your preference. Either way, make sure the coverage is sol- idly opaque all over.
I like to use white Chacopaper and a stylus when I transfer my designs. It’s always best to trace carefully and accurately, as we always tend to follow the lines—good or bad. Use the small end of the stylus to trace. This way if you don’t exactly follow the line, leaving an inaccuracy, tracing lines will wipe away easily.
Shadow indications are on the Shading Map on page 113 for your convenience and reference. However, do not include them when you apply the design. Additionally, you will not in- clude the flowers’ stamen. This can easily be inserted freehand when the painting is complete.
